Roaring Babies

Keira decided she was going to get up at 7 this morning so I got her a bottle and hoped she would just fall back asleep. When that didn't happen I brought her back to bed thinking maybe she would cuddle for a little bit and I could get 20 more minutes of pretending I was asleep. She was definitely not happy with this and after wiggling and squirming and making little noises she then started roaring. After a couple minutes of growly roars we got up and she was quite happy. Hopefully she doesn't remember this and think that roaring at me will get her whatever she wants!

What A Day!

So many funny things happened today!

Aidan got a Spiderman Operation game for his birthday and lately has enjoyed playing it. He has to do it in his room because he's so loud and if I'm watching tv, I can't hear my show. He was playing it at the table the other day and this is what it sounded like 'Bzzzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzz Mommy! I'm winning! Bzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzzzzz bzzzzzzz' Clearly his definition of winning is different than the goal of the game. Every time I hear him playing it I say to Michael 'I'm winning!' and we both crack up.

Keira learned to clap today. Maybe she sees it on tv and started practicing, I'm not sure but it was just so cute.

Of course after she started we all tried to get her to do it again and again. She would stand on my lap hopping up and down and clapping with a huge grin on her face. Then if she stopped we would clap and say 'Yayyy!' and she would start again.
The other thing she's started doing is roaring, it's too funny. She would make this little growl in
her throat and then if you respond with a similar noise she'll do it back and giggle at you. Aidan thought this was pretty cool so they sat on the couch roaring and growling and giggling at each other.
This is not really funny, but it did happen today - Keira threw up 3 times tonight. It seems like if she's going to throw up, she's going to do it multiple times. The last time she threw up, a week or so ago, she did it 4 or 5 times. And not right in a row. She waits until she's been changed and in a new outfit, or like last time, after she's out of the bath. Then she'll do it again. And again. So kind of her. Thankfully we have a sanitary cycle on the washing machine which I'll have to use tomorrow to wash all the outfits (hers and ours) that got yakked on. She's got good timing too. Last time it was right around the time Aidan was going to bed which is normally a busy time, and today she was just finishing up as we had someone coming to look at one of our rental rooms downstairs. This is the 3rd month in a row we are trying to rent a room (each time we filled it and then received notice that it would be vacant) and I am so tired of it! I just want them filled and then not have to worry about it! Hopefully we can find someone soon and then it will all be taken care of.

I Wanna Be A Rockstar!

Michael traded in a few games and came home with the latest greatest thing: Rockband. It was funny because I was just reading about Rockband on Teresa's blog and then Michael came home with it the next day. Aidan was over the moon about it and immediately grabbed the guitar to practice. Michael and I had some fun posing him for some pictures. Then he grabbed his shades and hat so that he would look more like a rockstar, or wok-tawh as he says. For the next couple days everything was rockstar. He had to wear a certain pair of socks because they were rockstar socks. He wouldn't wear a shirt because that's what rockstars do. (How does he know that, anyways?) He would dance to music like a rockstar. It was pretty funny. He's not actually connected to anything in these pictures, just trying it out. I connected the drums and put it on practice mode for him, but it wasn't very fun for him and that was kind of the end of that.

Note the rockstar sunglasses and rockstar transformers hat. His latest favourite hat.

Keira likes to grab and hit anything, so the drums weren't really a stretch for her.

The guitar on the other hand, she had no idea what to do with and was kind of annoyed it was just sitting there on her lap.

Wontons

For some reason I decided I wanted to make wontons. I'm not sure why. I do have a recipe for wonton filling in my recipe book, but I'm not sure why I put it in there. So when I went grocery shopping, that recipe was on the list of 'stuff to make in the coming week'. I had such a hard time finding wonton skins and the assorted ingredients. Finally I had rounded up everything (or the substitutions I was using - could not find ground pork anywhere!!) and took a closer look at the recipe only to see that there weren't any amounts!! That made things a little more interesting but they turned out pretty good. (Maybe taking a picture was a bad idea, they sure tasted better than this picture looks)

Aidan thought I was making them completely wrong, but then told me they tasted really good. He said to me 'When I grow up I want to make wontongs!'

Here's a tip though, in case you ever find yourself making wontons...don't put the uncooked wontons in the broth in the fridge overnight, planning to cook them the next day. They totally exploded and it was kind of gross.

Workout with Keira

This is how Keira drank her bottle on the couch today and I thought it looked so funny, like she was doing leg exercises or something.
